Gotlands Litteraturfestival is a new literary festival held in Visby over a weekend in late October. It features author talks, poetry readings, writing workshops, and a book fair. In its inaugural 2025 edition (Oct 24-25), the program included panels and book releases with noted Swedish writers and a book market at Almedalsbiblioteket 1 2. The event aims to put local literature and authors in the spotlight on the island.

Organized by regional cultural institutions and bookstores, this festival was created to fill a gap in Gotland’s cultural calendar. It builds on the island’s literary heritage (e.g. Karin Boye’s connections to Gotland) and provides a venue for Gotland’s writers and readers to celebrate literature together. The festival is part of a collaborative effort by libraries, cultural offices, and local literary societies 1 2.
