Festivalul Medieval Oradea is an annual historical reenactment festival each summer in Oradea’s historic district 1. Over 3–4 days in early July, Unirii Square and the Oradea Fortress are transformed into a medieval fairground, complete with costumed knights, archery and sword-fighting demonstrations, artisan markets, and music 1. Visitors experience jousting and helmet parades, traditional crafts displays and medieval banquets. It highlights Oradea’s medieval heritage, telling a story of the region’s history through interactive exhibitions and performances.
Inspired by Oradea's heritage (an important medieval trading center), the festival celebrates historical culture with educational and entertainment components. Local schools and historical clubs participate in wearing period costumes to animate the city center. The event is often organized by cultural associations and the local tourism board, aiming to teach and engage the younger generation about Oradea’s and Transylvania’s past.
