The Etnica Festival is a week-long celebration (first held in 2021) of the multicultural traditions of Banatul Montan, hosted by Reșișa. Each day is dedicated to one of the ethnic communities (Romanians, Croats, Czechs, Germans, Hungarians, Serbs, Roma) that have coexisted in the region. The festival features daily programs of folk dance, music, traditional costumes, and ethnic cuisine exhibits, highlighting each group's cultural heritage. Attendees can expect a lively showcase of Banat's folk art, with a grand opening costume parade followed by concerts, dance ensembles, artisanal craft displays, and food festivals reflecting the customs of Banat’s ethnic peoples 1 2.
Reșișa and the Banatul Montan (Caras-Severin) area have long been a multiethnic crossroads (Români, Croați, Cehi, Germani, Maghiari, Sârbi, Romi). The Etnica Festival was launched as part of Reșișa’s 250th anniversary celebrations to honor this heritage 1. It underscores the region’s identity as a cultural melting pot by bringing these communities together in one event, with local government support and community organizers insisting on mutual respect and shared celebration of traditions 2 3.
