A traditional fishermen’s festival held each June in Afurada parish of Vila Nova de Gaia. It honors Saint Peter, patron of fishermen, and features a street procession carrying Saint Peter’s image from the local church through the streets, a blessing of fishing boats on the River Douro, music concerts, and communal celebrations. The festival is deeply cherished by the Afurada community and showcases their maritime heritage.
