Chrobry Fest 1025 is an early-medieval cultural festival held at the Open-Air Museum of Opole (Muzeum Wsi Opolskiej, Opole) to commemorate the 1000th anniversary of King Bolesław I Chrobry’s coronation 1. The festival recreates the atmosphere of 11th-century Poland with reenactments of royal coronation and medieval battles, knights’ tournaments in fencing and archery, cavalry and falconry shows, period music, and historical craft workshops (pottery, weaving, blacksmithing, etc.) 2 3. Visitors can also sample traditional Piast-era food and watch live performances of medieval-inspired bands. The inaugural event took place on 5 July 2025 in the spacious skansen grounds of the Museum, attracting large local crowds 1 4. All attractions and workshops are free for visitors.
The festival is part of nationwide celebrations marking 1000 years since the first Polish king’s coronation (1025–2025) 1. It highlights Poland’s Piast-era heritage and engages the local community in living history. Although centered in Opole, it connects to Poland’s broader medieval legacy and is supported by regional cultural institutions (the Opole Museum, Ministry of Culture) and historical foundations 2 3. The setting of the open-air village museum (a reconstructed Silesian village) provides an authentic historical backdrop for the event.
