Kupalnocka at Czersk is a multi-day Slavic midsummer festival held on the grounds of the historic Mazovian Dukes’ Castle. Featuring medieval-themed performances, traditional crafts fair, folk rituals and nightly bonfires, the event celebrates Ivan Kupala Night with workshops (wreath-making, games), processions and a grand fire display by the river 1 2.
The festival exploits the medieval castle setting to recreate Slavic pagan-summer customs (Kupala Night) such as dancing around fire, crown-making and folk storytelling. It highlights the mythological heritage of pre-Christian Slavs and the novel ‘Stara Baśń’ by Kraszewski, connecting castle folklore to national identity 1.
