Musikkfest Rogaland is an annual one-day free music festival held each early June in central Stavanger. It features dozens of live concerts across multiple stages in the downtown and harbor area, highlighting the region’s local music scene. The focus is on emerging and independent bands from Rogaland, with roughly 80% of acts coming from the local area 1. The festival is organized by local volunteers and framed by the Stavanger municipal anniversary (900 years), blending civic celebration with creative performances. Attendees experience a day of diverse genres – from rock and hip-hop to jazz and choir – all performed free outdoors under the summer sun.

A very new event (launched in 2022) reflecting Stavanger’s grassroots music culture. The festival started as a way to showcase the city’s ‘underskogen’ (undergrowth) of artists and has quickly become a symbol of Stavanger’s creative energy 1. It is a community-driven festival rooted in supporting local talent and encouraging public engagement with the arts.
