Bar Olive FestivalMaslinijada

A traditional olive harvest festival in the Old Town of Bar, held in late November to coincide with the town’s liberation anniversary. It features olive oil competitions judged by experts, award ceremonies for the best extra-virgin oils and orchards, and stalls offering local olive oil and Bar region specialties (olive products, wine, cheese). Visitors can tour ancient olive groves, learn about traditional olive cultivation practices, and participate in tastings of freshly produced olive oil. The event blends agriculture and culture, showcasing local heritage and artisanal food traditions.

Bar is famous for its ancient olive trees (including the millennia-old Old Olive Tree). The Maslinijada celebrates this heritage, reflecting centuries-old olive farming in the Mediterranean climate. It honors the role of the olive in Bar’s economy and culture, and sustains local community ties by bringing farmers, producers and residents together each year.
