An annual summer carnival held in early July on Monaco’s Rock (Le Rocher). Organized by the local community (Roca Club) since the mid-1990s, it features floats, costumes, music, dancing, and children's activities 1 2. The parade and festivities often have a theme; in 2025 it was Western-themed with large floats, street performers and a Grand Ball, all free for families 2.
Although modern, U Sciaratu revives medieval pre-Lenten carnival roots in a summer setting. It is a purely local event (with giant papier-mâché heads and confetti) aimed at preserving a festive custom. The name 'Sciaratu' (Monegasque for carnival) and the King's character underline its local character 1 2.
