The Tokaj Wine Harvest Festival is the region’s largest autumn celebration, held in the historic Tokaj town center 1. This annual multi-day festival (first held in 1932 2 features folkloric parades, open wine tastings of the famed Tokaj wines, live music, and traditional grape-harvest rituals. Streets and squares are decorated with vineyards’ symbols; visitors enjoy local cuisine and folk performances amid the wine festival atmosphere.
Strongly tied to the Tokaj-Hegyalja wine heritage. It highlights the social role of wine in the community and preserves old harvest customs (processions, blessings of grapes, communal wine drinking) rather than luxury consumption 1. The festival also reflects the identity of the entire wine region, with neighboring villages joining the October festivities.
