Haverfordwest (Hwlffordd) holds an annual St David’s Day parade through the town to celebrate Welsh language and culture. In 2025 over a thousand schoolchildren and staff from 14 local schools marched through town waving flags and singing Welsh songs as part of the celebration 1. The procession, led by band Samba Doc, starts in the morning at the top of town (Dew Street car park) and winds down High Street to end in the Picton Playing Fields, where a free open-air jamboree of folk music and dance is held 2. The inaugural official city parade is planned for 1 March 2026, led by civic leaders and organized by the Pembrokeshire Language Forum 3.
This parade highlights Pembrokeshire’s Welsh-speaking community, bringing together children and residents in a colorful display of daffodils, Welsh costume and songs. It is organized by the local Welsh-language forum and town officials, reflecting local pride in the Welsh language. Traditional marching bands and community choirs reinforce the link to Welsh musical heritage.
