Rouen Impressionnée is a contemporary urban art festival held in Rouen since 2010. It acts as a modern counterpart to the Impressionist legacy of Normandy. Every few years, French and international artists create large outdoor installations, artworks, and street performances across the city on themes inspired by local heritage and nature 1 2. Organized by the city government, the free event activates public spaces (museums, libraries, streets) in Rouen’s city center, inviting local residents to engage with cutting-edge art in everyday settings.
The festival connects Rouen’s identity as an art city (home to Gustave Moreau, medieval heritage, etc.) with contemporary culture. It complements cultural tourism by providing urban art experiences that reflect local history and the spirit of Rouen 1.
