Rosenheimer Herbstfest is a large traditional folk festival in Rosenheim (Upper Bavaria), dating back to the 19th century. Often called the "likeable Oktoberfest," it features beer tents, rides, music, parades, and family days. It has agricultural roots (an agricultural exhibition) and is famous for the opening parade, beer tapping ceremony, and fireworks. The festival showcases Bavarian costumes and hospitality in a community setting.
The festival began in 1861 as an agricultural fair (Landwirtschaftsausstellung) and evolved into an annual autumn “Volksfest.” Held on the Loreto meadow, it reflects Upper Bavarian traditions of harvest celebrations and social gatherings. The event includes the traditional Wirte-Festzug (parade of brewers and people in Tracht) and integrates the Catholic feast of the Assumption (Mariä Himmelfahrt on August 15).
