Slunce ve skle (Sun in Glass) is an annual microbrewery beer festival held in mid-September at Purkmistr Brewery in the Černice suburb of Pilsen 1. Dozens of small Czech (and some foreign) breweries offer tastings of specialty craft beers (in 0.1 l glasses) under a festive atmosphere. The courtyard, brewery garden, and adjacent village square host live music, food stalls, and beer competitions. It is popular with local beer enthusiasts and families.
Czech culture prizes beer. Pilsen as the birthplace of Pilsner has fostered craft brewing. This event celebrates that tradition by highlighting local microbreweries. The name refers to tasting beer 'in glass' (small samplers) under the autumn sun in Černice. It brings the community together as summer ends.
