An annual street arts festival animating Plzeň’s historic center at the end of summer. For several days, dozens of buskers (musicians, dancers, jugglers, circus performers) from around the world fill the main square and nearby streets with performances – all free entry. Spectators can wander among multiple stages, craft zones and open “busking zones,” dropping a tip in a hat for any act. Founded in 2013, Pilsen Busking Fest grew out of grassroots desire to showcase street performers beyond conventional tourist sights. Each year it has been a temporary co-creation between town, youth and international artists. The festival aligns with Pilsen’s modern cultural initiatives (e.g. European Capital of Culture 2015) by promoting urban creativity and spontaneous public art 1 2.
