Prague Pride is an annual week-long LGBT pride festival culminating in a large Rainbow Parade through the city center. It celebrates Prague's LGBTQ+ community and promotes equality and human rights. The festival includes concerts, parties, exhibitions, and cultural events, with participation from tens of thousands of participants wearing rainbow colors. The festive main event is the pride parade (shromáždění) often held on Prague’s iconic streets (e.g. starting from Wenceslas Square to Letná). The festival was founded in 2011 and has grown into a key event for Prague's identity as an open, inclusive city 1 2.
Emerging after the fall of Communism, Prague Pride has become a symbol of social liberalization in the Czech Republic. It reflects the city’s progressive values and the community’s fight for civil rights. Pride’s presence in Prague is supported by many civic leaders and receives media coverage. It highlights tolerance and provides visibility to minority identities within the local culture. 1 2
