An annual international folklore festival in Prague showcasing the traditional music, dance, costumes, and crafts of various national communities and ethnic minorities. Street performances and workshops in the Old Town highlight folk traditions of many cultures, culminating in a gala concert at Divadlo na Vinohradech. A procession of participating groups marches through Prague’s historic streets (Mariánské náměstí to Wenceslas Square) as a vibrant display of cultural unity 1 2.
Founded in 1999, the festival is a celebration of the many ethnic groups living in Prague and across the Czech Republic. It was established to foster cultural understanding and joy through music, dance, and shared traditions. Each year participants from around 15-20 countries (local minority communities and invited international ensembles) perform in the city center. The festival is supported by the Prague city government and is known as one of the Czech Republic’s largest minority-community events 1 2.
