Balkan’s oldest and Bulgaria’s most famous flower festival, celebrating the rose harvest with parades, music, and the crowning of the Rose Queen 1. Takes place in late May/early June, when Kazanlak is fragrant with blooms. Traditional events include the Rose Parade through the streets, rose-picking ceremonies in fields, and folk concerts 2.
Reflecting Kazanlak’s heritage as the heart of the Rose Oil industry, the festival has been held annually since 1903 1. It symbolizes local identity tied to the Valley of Roses and Thracian history.
