Vidin Art Festival 'The River' is an annual cultural festival on the Danube in Vidin, turning the riverside into a 'city of arts'. Over several days each late June, it offers theatre, music, puppetry and creative workshops for all ages, culminating in a spectacular light and 3D mapping show on the medieval Baba Vida fortress in celebration of Danube Day 1 2.
Introduced in 2023 by Vidin Municipality and Event Masters, the festival links modern art with local heritage. It emphasizes Danube Day (June 29) and showcases Vidin’s Baba Vida castle as a cultural canvas, reflecting the city’s identity as a historical Danubian hub 1 2.
