Eupen Musik Marathon is an annual open-air music festival held in the city center in late May 1. It features a wide range of genres (Rock, Pop, Electro, Jazz, World Music and more) on multiple stages over a weekend. The festival draws around 10,000 people from the broader Euregio Maas-Rhein, filling city squares and parks with concerts by Belgian and international acts 2. It showcases local cultural vibrancy with dozens of bands and youth choirs performing in a family-friendly atmosphere.
Founded by the cultural association Sunergia, the Eupen Musik Marathon highlights the DG’s diverse musical talent and community spirit. It traditionally 'opens the festival season' in the region 1. Volunteers, local music groups (harmonies, choirs from DG schools), and food vendors collaborate to make the event an annual cultural gathering. A special local beer (Curtis Amblava) is brewed for the occasion, linking it to regional identity 2.
