Bloemencorso Loenhout is an annual flower parade in the village of Loenhout (Antwerp province). It is Belgium’s largest flower procession, featuring elaborate floats decorated with millions of dahlias. Held each September, local volunteer teams (buurtschappen) create themed floral displays, accompanied by street theater and drummers. The event celebrates the region’s horticultural tradition and craftsmanship, drawing crowds of families and flower enthusiasts.
Flower parades are an important Flemish tradition, and Loenhout’s corso has become an iconic example. Each year, teams of neighbors and clubs prepare floats and costumes months in advance, making it a deeply communal effort. It is recognized as part of Flanders’ intangible heritage (deel van immateriële erfgoed) related to social customs of parade-building.
