A four-day folk festival celebrating the grape harvest in the historic wine town of Retz. It features communal wine taverns (Heurigen), a largest harvest market, folk music, a festive mass, and the famous winemaker parade (Winzerumzug) where residents in costume march and serve wine. Running since the 1950s on the last weekend of September, it is the region’s signature harvest event 1 2.
Reflects the importance of viticulture in the Weinviertel. Community vineyards and growers gather to share new vintages, and local brotherhoods perform traditional ceremonies like raising the wicker wine-bush (Heurigenbuschen).
