A contemporary multi-day arts festival in Shkodër, Zâ Fest blends music, theater, film, and dance with a focus on Albanian cultural heritage. Held each summer primarily at Rozafa Castle and historic venues, it features performances by Albanian and international artists as well as youth ensembles. Founded in 2017, the festival aims to revitalize local culture in northern Albania and strengthen ties with the diaspora by showcasing traditional music, folk-inspired ballet, poetry, and contemporary works 1 2.
Organized annually since 2017 under artistic director Vlashent Sata, Za Fest originated in the Theth mountains before moving events to Shkodër. The festival’s name (voice) reflects its mission to give the city a cultural ‘voice’. It is positioned as a platform combining heritage (performances in castle and old city spaces) with modern expression, supported by agencies like the Albanian Diaspora Agency 1 2.
